Lake Zurich stretches from the city of Zurich to Rapperswil over around 40 kilometres and is one of Switzerland's best-known lakes. The gently rolling shores with vineyards, villas, small towns and an almost Mediterranean feel in summer have earned the lake and its region the nicknames «Gold Coast» (eastern shore) and «peacock tail».

In summer, Zurich's lido beaches – including the Seebad Enge and the Strandbad Mythenquai – are legendarily popular urban baths with views of the lake and the Alps. Boats of the ZSG connect the lakeshore towns from Zurich to Rapperswil. The towns of Küsnacht, Meilen, Rapperswil and Stäfa are rewarding lakeside excursion destinations.

Lake Zurich is easily accessible from Zurich by S-Bahn, boat or car on both shores. The Zürichsee line of the S-Bahn (S6, S16) connects the lakeshore villages. Boat services: zsg.ch
