The Stanserhorn at 1'898 metres is the local mountain of the town of Stans and offers a panorama stretching from Lake Lucerne across the Uri Alps to the Bernese and Valais four-thousanders. What makes it special is the journey: the Stanserhorn-Bahn combines a historic funicular with a modern CabriO gondola – the world's first cable car with an open upper deck, where the panorama can be experienced completely unobstructed.
On the summit plateau there is a mountain inn and the Stanserhorn Cabriolet restaurant. Hiking trails run along the ridge and offer unobstructed views of the lake and mountains. The Stanserhorn is accessible year-round and in winter is an atmospheric snow-covered viewpoint.
The Stanserhorn is reachable by funicular and CabriO gondola from Stans. Stans is accessible by Zentralbahn from Lucerne in around 15 minutes. By car, take the A2 motorway, Stans-Nord exit. Tickets: stanserhorn.ch
