The Tamina Gorge near Bad Ragaz is the source of the famous thermal springs of Bad Ragaz and simultaneously one of Switzerland's most impressive gorges. For centuries, the hot water from the gorge (36.5°C) has been used for therapeutic purposes; the history of this use is part of the UNESCO cultural heritage of the region.
The path through the illuminated gorge leads through narrow, glacially polished rock passages directly to the thermal spring inside the mountain. The experience is unique, combining geology, history and natural discovery in one. A historic bathhouse stands directly at the gorge entrance. The gorge can be visited with a guide or independently and is open seasonally from April to October.
The Tamina Gorge lies on the edge of Bad Ragaz. Bad Ragaz is reachable by train from Zurich in around 1 hour. By car, take the A13 motorway, Bad Ragaz exit. Parking is available at the entrance. Admission is charged: taminaschlucht.ch
