The Bisse du Ro is one of the best-known and most beautiful bisse trails in Valais – a historic irrigation channel that runs above Crans-Montana through a spectacular rocky landscape. The path follows steep cliff faces, secured in places by narrow wooden walkways, while offering broad views over the Rhône Valley and the Valais Alps.

The trail alongside the bisse is around 6 kilometres long and suited to experienced walkers with a sure foot – in places it runs directly along the rock face, and a head for heights is recommended. The route runs from Icogne to the bisse's source and back. In early summer, when water flows through the channel and the vegetation is freshly green, the walk is at its most rewarding.

From Sierre or Sion, the SMC railway climbs to the Crans-Montana plateau. Icogne, the starting point of the bisse trail, is reachable by PostBus from Sierre or by car. Parking is available on the edge of the village of Icogne.
