Chur is the oldest city in Switzerland – archaeological finds attest to settlement for around 11'000 years – and the capital of the canton of Graubünden. The old town with the Cathedral of St. Mary's Assumption, medieval lanes and the lively Postplatz is compact and explorable on foot. Chur is above all the most important railway hub in Graubünden: all the major Rhaetian Railway routes into the canton depart from here.

The Stadtpark with its old trees and the Bündner Kunstmuseum are the city's cultural highlights. The surroundings offer direct access to the first peaks of the Graubünden Alps: the Brambrüesch is reachable in just a few minutes by gondola and offers hiking and in winter a small ski area directly above the city.

Chur is the central railway hub for all of Graubünden and reachable from Zurich in around 1.5 hours. By car, take the A13 motorway. All major Rhaetian Railway routes begin in Chur.
