First at 2'168 metres is the mountain area above Grindelwald, known for its spectacular leisure facilities with views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The First Cliff Walk – a secured steel walkway snaking along the rocky ridge – ranks among the most thrilling hiking experiences in the Bernese Oberland. First also offers the First Flyer, Trottibike and Mountain Cart for those seeking an adrenaline kick.

In summer, trails from First lead to the Bachalpsee – one of the finest mountain lakes in the Bernese Oberland, surrounded by peak panoramas – and onward to Grosse Scheidegg and Schwarzwaldalp. In winter, First is part of the Grindelwald ski area. For walks beyond the mountain station, sturdy shoes and mountain gear are recommended.
