The Oltschibachfall tumbles down a steep cliff face in several stages over around 100 metres near the Lake of Brienz and is one of the most impressive waterfalls in the Bernese Oberland – yet rarely crowded. The fall is clearly visible from the lake and takes travellers by surprise on the boat or the lakeshore road with its sudden force.

A trail from the lakeshore leads to the foot of the waterfall and allows the spectacle to be experienced up close. The path is short and suitable for families with children. The combination of waterfall, lakeshore and the mountain landscape of the upper Bernese Oberland makes the visit particularly rewarding – most impressive after rainfall, when the fall is at full strength.

The Oltschibachfall is on the cantonal road along the northern shore of Lake Brienz between Brienz and Meiringen. By train, travel to Brienz (around 20 minutes from Interlaken Ost) and continue on foot or by PostBus along the lakeshore road. Roadside parking is available along the lakeshore.
