Neuchâtel is a cultural and urban center on the shore of Lake Neuchâtel – the largest lake entirely within Switzerland. As capital of the French-speaking canton of Neuchâtel, the city combines elegant urban culture with the history of medieval architecture. The majestic Château de Neuchâtel towers over the old town while the Gothic Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame displays architectural masterpieces.

The old town with its charming lanes, arcades, and bustling market square invites exploration. Museums like the Laténium (Archaeological Museum) document thousands of years of history. The lake offers water sports enthusiasts sailing, rowing, windsurfing, and swimming opportunities. Chaumont with its cogwheel railway offers spectacular views and is a starting point for Jura hikes.

From May through October is the best time to visit. Excellent restaurants, cafés, and museums provide variety. The city is easily accessible by train or car with parking available throughout.
