The Staubbachfall drops freely over 297 metres down the sheer cliff face directly above the village of Lauterbrunnen and is one of the highest free-falling waterfalls in Europe. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Lord Byron were both inspired by the sight; the fall remains one of the iconic images of the Swiss Alps.

From the village centre the Staubbachfall is reachable on foot in just a few minutes. A secured path leads behind the water curtain – a short but striking passage surrounded by fine spray. The fall is appealing in various light conditions: in the evening, when the sun strikes at an angle, the water glows golden. It flows year-round but reaches its greatest volume in early summer.

The Staubbachfall is located directly in the village of Lauterbrunnen, reachable by train from Interlaken Ost in around 20 minutes. The fall is free to visit and accessible at any time. Large car parks are available in the village centre.
