The Susten Pass at 2'224 metres connects the Haslital in the canton of Bern with the Reuss Valley in the canton of Uri and is one of the most scenically impressive alpine crossings in Switzerland. The pass road was only opened in 1945 and crosses a high-mountain landscape of great wildness, passing the Stein Glacier – one of the most spectacular accessible glaciers in the Central Alps.

The Stein Glacier directly beside the pass road is accessible on hiking trails and offers striking insights into the glacial world. The Susten Pass is especially popular with motorcyclists and cyclists and is considered one of Switzerland's most beautiful pass roads. In spring, when the pass first opens, high snow walls still line the roadside.

The Susten Pass is reachable by car from Innertkirchen in the Haslital or from Wassen in the canton of Uri. The pass road is typically open from late May to October. By rail, travel to Meiringen (from Interlaken) or Wassen (from Lucerne) and continue by PostBus.
