Tarasp is a quiet village in the Lower Engadine, nestled between larch forest and rocky slopes, offering an authentic alternative to the better-known holiday destinations of the valley. The village houses follow the typical Engadine building style with solid walls and small windows. From Tarasp, the mineral springs of Scuol and the Bogn Engiadina thermal baths are easily reached on foot.

Prominently above the village, Tarasp Castle stands on an isolated rocky ridge – one of Switzerland's most impressive fortresses, recognisable from afar across the valley. The walk up to the castle takes around 30 minutes and rewards visitors with views over the Inn Valley and the Engadine mountain range. Guided tours of the interior are offered from April to October.

Tarasp is reachable by PostBus from Scuol in around 15 minutes. Scuol is reachable by Rhaetian Railway from Chur in around 2 hours. By car, drive from Scuol into the Inntäli.
