Alp Grüm is a railway station at around 2'091 metres on the Bernina Railway and offers one of the most dramatic panoramic views along the entire line: from the terrace of the historic mountain hotel, the eye looks directly onto the Palü Glacier and down into the Valtellina – the difference in altitude of over 1'000 metres covered in just a few minutes of travel is one of the great spectacles of the Bernina Railway.
Alp Grüm is only accessible by train and has no road connection – which gives the place a particular stillness. The Hotel Alp Grüm right at the station is a historic building embodying the tradition of early alpine tourism. Hiking trails lead from here to the surrounding alpine meadows and the Diavolezza region. A stay at Alp Grüm is a time-travel experience.
Alp Grüm is on the Bernina Railway line and reachable by Rhaetian Railway from St. Moritz in around 45 minutes. The railway runs year-round; services are reduced in winter. Train tickets: rhb.ch
