Guarda is a small village in the Lower Engadine and is regarded as one of the most beautiful villages in Switzerland – a title it earns: the whitewashed houses with their elaborate sgraffito decorations, narrow lanes and views of the Lower Engadine mountains make Guarda a total work of art. The village is a protected heritage townscape and has preserved its medieval character almost unchanged.

Author Selina Chönz and illustrator Alois Carigiet made Guarda world-famous with the children's book «Schellen-Ursli» – a monument in the village commemorates this. Hiking trails lead from Guarda into the Inntäli and across the ridge to the Tuoi Hut. The village has a small village café and some holiday apartments, but no hotel infrastructure as such.

Guarda sits elevated above the Inn and is reachable by PostBus from Scuol in around 20 minutes. Scuol is reachable by Rhaetian Railway from Chur in around 2 hours. By car, park in the valley below and walk up to the village on foot.
