Kleine Scheidegg at around 2'061 metres is one of Switzerland's most celebrated viewpoints: the mountain pass between Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen offers a frontal view of the north faces of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau – a panorama without equal. This is where the Wengernalpbahn and the Jungfraubahn lines intersect, the latter continuing up to the Jungfraujoch.
Kleine Scheidegg is surrounded by numerous hiking trails – including the classic ascent from Grindelwald via Alpiglen and the descent to Wengen across the sunny slopes of the Lauberhorn. The mountain hotel at the pass with its legendary terrace is a popular resting spot. In winter the area is a central hub of the Jungfrau Ski Region and the starting point of the Lauberhorn race course.
Kleine Scheidegg is reachable by Wengernalpbahn from Grindelwald (around 35 minutes) or from Lauterbrunnen via Wengen. From Kleine Scheidegg, the Jungfraubahn continues to the Jungfraujoch. Tickets: jungfrau.ch
