Weggis lies on the northern shore of Lake Lucerne in the canton of Lucerne, directly at the foot of the Rigi, and is one of the mildest places in central Switzerland. The small town is known for its subtropical microclimate with palm trees, fig trees and magnolias – a remarkable contrast to the surrounding mountain world. Weggis is reachable by boat from Lucerne in around 45 minutes or by PostBus. By car, take the lakeshore road from Lucerne towards Küssnacht and Weggis. Parking is available in the village and by the lakeshore.
