Wengen is a car-free mountain village at around 1'274 metres, perched on a broad sunny plateau above the Lauterbrunnen Valley with one of the Bernese Oberland's most iconic views: directly opposite, the north faces of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The village is the ideal base for walks to Kleine Scheidegg and the Jungfraujoch.

Wengen has retained the character of a traditional mountain village despite its international visitor base: timber chalets, quiet lanes and relatively little mass tourism define the scene. In winter it hosts the world-famous Lauberhorn Race, the oldest alpine ski race in the world. In summer, panoramic walks lead to Männlichen and Kleine Scheidegg. The village is appealing year-round in every season.

Wengen is only accessible by train: from Lauterbrunnen on the Wengernalpbahn in around 14 minutes. Lauterbrunnen is itself reachable from Interlaken Ost in 20 minutes. Cars must be left in Lauterbrunnen or Interlaken.
